What is a prism?

This type of activity is known as Rule. Please read the guidance notes here, where you will find useful information for running these types of activities with your students.

Please note: for many years I was not aware there was a debate raging in the mathematics community over whether or not a cylinder is a prism. I had always thought it was, and that is what I have gone with in this activity. However, if you feel otherwise, you can change the answer using the downloadable version of the file at the bottom of the page. And for more on this (rather heated) debate, see here.
